It is important to have your workstation setup correctly to prevent neck pain and/or back pain.

Try to setup your workstation like this:



Hips, knees, and elbows bent at 90 degrees
Computer screen at eye level
Font at readable size
Keyboard close to belly button
Elbows on armrest
Back upright with pillow supporting curve in low back
Phone should be a headset or speaker if possible
Hand and wrist in neutral position

Common Symptoms Caused By Incorrect Sitting Position
Neck stiffness/ neck pain
Upper back stiffness/ upper back pain
Low back stiffness/ low back pain
Migraine headaches/ tension headaches
Numbness in arms/ numbness in legs
Tingling in arms/ tingling in legs
Sciatica

1. FOLLOWING AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET. You are what you eat. Since everyone is different, there isn't a single anti inflammatory diet for everyone. Try to include a diet full of turmeric, ginger, and boswellia.  Turmeric ginger tea is one of my favorites. When an anti-inflammatory diet is done successfully, it will relieve neck and back pain.

2. GOOD POSTURE HABITS. It is important to practice good posture habits to prevent neck or back pain.  Good posture reduces stress on the spine. One of the biggest culprits of bad posture is sitting at the computer or on the phone. Prolonged sitting is considered “the new smoking”.  It has been shown to shorten people's life span.

3. EXERCISING. Back pain and neck pain can occur from living a sedentary lifestyle.  I always encourage my patients to stay active and keep the spine moving! Spinal joints that make up the back and neck like other joints require movement to heal.


4. MEDITATE. By simply being stressed out, muscle tension, misalignment, and nerve irritation can occur. Leading to neck and back pain. Find a meditation technique you like and do it for at least 15 minutes per day, ideally in the morning. Guided meditations can be found online to help you to relax.

5. GETTING A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT. Yes it's true, even chiropractors need an adjustment sometimes. Chiropractic is essential to a healthy body and has been proven to alleviate back pain and neck pain. Poor alignment of the back and neck puts pressure on nerves and cause muscles to spasm.

Lower back pain is common problem people face in today's technology based society.  With more and more jobs requiring prolonged sitting time, lower back pain is at an all time high.  But here are 5 ways to combat that pesky lower back pain.

1. Keep water at your desk and drink it all day. Nature’s call will force you get up from your desk regularly AND you will stay hydrated.
2. Set a timer on your phone for every hour. When the timer goes off, take a 5 minute walk around.
3. Exercise is a vital tool to prevent lower back pain. Specifically strengthening your core muscles will make your body more stable and resistant to injury..
4. Invest in a standing desk. Many people have experienced tremendous results with standing desks.  Most high tech companies like google and apple provide these desks for their employees. But if your employer isnt willing to purchase one for you, it's a good idea to get one on your own.  A couple hundred dollars is a small price to pay for your health!
5. One of the best things you can do to relieve the damage that comes to your lower back from sitting is to get adjusted by a chiropractor regularly.  A weekly adjustment is the best insurance policy you can buy to combat the long term effects of sitting.

6 Things You Should Do Immediately After A Car Accident



1. Stop immediately and remain as close to the car accident scene as possible without endangering yourself.
2. Call a law enforcement officer.  An official report of the car accident may be helpful at a later time.
3. Identify the other driver.  Obtain the other drivers name, address, vehicle registration number, and insurance information.  
4. Witnesses. Obtain names addresses and telephone numbers of all witnesses that may have seen the car accident.
